ROHM has developed the LMR1901YG-M, a linear operational amplifier (op amp) boasting the industry’s lowest current consumption. This makes it ideal for amplifying sensor signals in applications powered by internal sources like batteries, used for detecting and measuring temperature, flow rate, gas concentration, and other parameters. The demand for advanced control in consumer and industrial electronics has been growing, driving the need for accurate sensing of various parameters such as temperature, humidity, vibration, pressure, and flow rate. Op amps play a crucial role in amplifying sensor signals for detection and analog-to-digital conversion, significantly impacting accuracy and power consumption. To meet this demand, ROHM is developing op amps that offer high accuracy and low current consumption.
The op amp incorporates ROHM’s original ultra-low power technology, which effectively suppresses current increases caused by temperature and voltage changes, resulting in a current consumption of just 160nA (Typ.), approximately 38% lower than general low-power op amps. This extended battery life benefits applications like electronic shelf labels and smartphones. Furthermore, the low current consumption remains stable over a wide temperature range (-40°C to +105°C), ensuring reliable operation in various environments, including fire alarms and environmental sensors. The op amp also boasts a 45% reduction in input offset voltage to just 0.55mV (Max. Ta=25°C) compared to general low-current op amps, with a maximum input offset voltage temperature drift of 7V/°C, enabling high-precision amplification of sensor signals.
Capable of operating from 1.7V to 5.5V supply voltage and offering rail-to-rail input/output, the op amp is suitable for a wide range of applications in industrial equipment and consumer markets. It complies with the automotive reliability standard AEC-Q100, ensuring stable operation even in harsh conditions like vehicle cabins without compromising functionality.
